A tour across three national parks from Vilnius to Warsaw (8 days)

The tour begins in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius and ends in the Polish capital Warsaw. The old towns of both capitals are featured on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. The cycle tracks stretch across three national parks making this trip an excellent choice for all nature aficionados. The national parks of Dzukija and Biebrza are great places for bird watching. If you are lucky, you can even spot a majestic moose. Are you in a mood for some pampering? Druskininkai is one of the oldest wellness resorts in Europe, dating back to 1794. Today, Druskininkai is home to multiple modern SPA centres where you can receive some much-deserved TLC after a long day of cycling.

Route: about 60 miles on a bike and approx. a 280-mile-long bus ride.

Tour agenda:

Day 1. Arrival in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Meeting the guide. An overnight stay in Vilnius.

Day 2. Vilnius-Trakai-Vilnius. About a 50-mile-long bus ride and 19 miles on a bike

After breakfast, we take a bus to Semeliskes. Here, we hop onto our bikes and ride along a beautiful cycle track across the picturesque Trakai National Park. In Trakai, we pay a visit to the medieval castle and have a taste of the local Karaite delicacy Kibinai. Afterwards, we take a bus back to Vilnius. An overnight stay in Vilnius.

Day 3. Vilnius- Marcinkonys-Druskininkai. (a 68-mile-long bus ride and 22 miles on a bike)

After breakfast, we take a tour around Vilnius Old Town – one of the most beautiful old towns in Europe and a city featured on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. Next, we get on a bus and go to the Dzukija National Park. Here, we get on our bikes and take a ride through old ethnographic villages. In Marcinkonys, we make a stop for a picnic and taste some local delicacies. A local guide will also take us on an exciting excursion to a nearby marsh. After a long day, we travel to the Druskininkai wellness resort, renowned for its mineral streams and relaxing SPA procedures. An overnight stay in Druskininkai.

 Day 4. Druskininkai (a 25-mile-long bike ride)

We dedicate this day to exploring the region of Druskininkai. On our way, we will pay a visit to an open-air museum Grutas Park. It is home to many old statues from the Soviet times in Lithuania. This is the only privately-owned museum of the kind in the entire world. Also, we will ride along a cycle track stretching across the Raigardas Landscape Reserve, Svendubre ethnographic villages and other local landmarks. After lunch, you are welcome to enjoy some SPA treatments in Druskininkai. An overnight stay in Druskininkai.

Day 5. Druskininkai-Seinai-Seinai/Augustow (Approx. 43 miles on a bus and a 34-mile-long bike ride)

Today we leave Lithuania behind and cross over the border to Poland. Here, we get on our bikes and ride whilst enjoying a breath-taking scenery all the way to the historic Camaldolese Monastery. It is situated in the middle of Wigry National Park and is surrounded by the Wigry Lake. An overnight stay in Seinai/Augustow.

Day 6.  Augustow – Goniadz. (Approx. a 19-mile-long bus ride and 31 miles on a bike)

Another exciting day on two wheels. We start from our hotel and, after a short stop at the centre of Augustow, reach Goniadz. This day’s tour stretches along the Biebrza National Park – home to the confluence of Biebrza and Narew rivers, forming one of the most beautiful waterway systems in Europe. Biebrza National Park occupies a territory of more than 146,343 acres and is the largest national park in Poland. An overnight stay in Goniadz.

Day 7. Goniadz – Warsaw. (Approx. 105 miles on a bus and a 25-mile-long bike ride)

The last cycle track runs across a national park, so you will have plenty of time to enjoy diverse landscapes, wet meadows, tall willows, vast marshes and swamps. After lunch, we reach the capital of Poland and take a tour around its beautifully restored Old Town, which is featured on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites.
